First, let me wish all a Happy and Blessed 2016, and in the context of improvement, one better than 2015.
Three people who impacted closely on my life passed on in 2015: I celebrate that these three were part of my life and provided to me many exemplary lessons
TOM PACE: Fearless. Tom was my hero, a gentleman, and a brilliant goalkeeper, and from my perspective “a good man”.
CHRISTOPHER PHILLIPS: My nephew and my friend: “ A “gentle giant” blessed with attributes that expressed laughter, kindness, gentleness and humbleness. And he could run as well with the “puppies” as with the “big dogs”. Perhaps this is Christopher’s lesson to us – this capacity to be a child when necessary and an adult when necessary with appropriate poise. And I thank him for that”.
EURANIA BEGGS: A rough diamond, she was the channel through which her sister’s family was stabilized. She exhibited kindness; a ready willingness to help; and independence; She was a ‘feminist’ before feminism became popular; she stood out among the women in her company because she wore pants. And she carried herself with dignity and with strength. She taught me “manliness” (the combining of both female and male aspects in one’s character).

HAPPY HOUR CHUCKLE – let’s laugh in 2016!

1. And the Lord said unto Moses- ” Come forth” – and Moses came fifth (Rowley Jeffrey).

2. Who got the worst deal in the parable of the Prodigal Son?
—the fatted calf!

3. To celebrate their 50th anniversary, a husband booked a round of golf for his wife and himself on a trip to famous Myrtle Creek golf links . On the third tee, the husband hesitated in teeing off and turned slowly to his wife and said contritely, “Darling, I have to confess something. Twenty years ago I had a brief affair. It meant nothing. I hope that you can forgive me.” His wife was hurt but said, “Dearest, those days are long gone. What we have now is far more valuable. I forgive you.” They embraced and kissed. On the seventeenth tee, the husband was starting his backswing when the wife blurted out, “I’m sorry darling, I’ve been so conscience-stricken since you told me, but since we’re being honest with each other, I have something to tell you also. Fifty-two years ago I had a sex change operation. I was a man before I met you. I hope you can forgive me.” The husband, froze at the top of his backswing, then threw a fit! He slammed the driver into the ground, kicked the ball into the woods, broke all his clubs one by one, then started on hers. He screamed and ranted, “You liar… you cheat… you despicable deceiver! How could you? I trusted you with all my heart and soul… and all these years you’ve been playing off the ladies tees!”

One Response to PASSINGS…..BUT LET’S LAUGH IN 2016

  1. Gordon T says:

As the Old year Passed and the New Year came in I again reflected on the people who impacted my life – I lost my Mother last February but there were so many others Like Mother B – the Hostel Masters and Matrons. My first Christmas dinner blew my mind it was my first Formal Dinner in Grenada I was 11. The pomp and splendor and discipline with which it was orchestrated made and indelible mark on the young minds who went thru that venerable institution the GBSS hostel. I lived to be the Hostel Head Prefect and had to deliver my dinner speech as the ranking senior which to me was the culmination of a very disciplined and happy time and now I pay tribute to times past.
